Of course there are all types of garage art, but this particular piece discussed how I hate to throw things with potential away. And that usually all the stuff I keep ends up being turned into some sort of furniture or who knows. For example, my cracked surfboard is a coffee table, my old skateboard decks are chairs, old custom car seat is now a chair in the house, etc. Well my latest comes in the form of my old tailgate off my '71 Chevy. In my editorial I was talking about building an entertainment center out of my old tailgate and some scrap metal. To be exact I used four old pieces of rectangular metal for the legs. From there I used 3/4-inch tubing for the shelves, and on top of the shelves is 18-gauge expanded metal. The door of the piece is made from 1/4-inch steel rods that have been bent in the form of a spider web. Instead of using steel to weld the web in place, I brazed the web using brass to get some juxtaposition between the steel and brass. Also all of the metal has been ground down to bare steel to give it a cool industrial look. Check it out. Also, if ya want, send in your photos of your garage art and we'll post them up.
